Their findings are reported in the October 1 issue of Cancer Research, a journal of the American Association for Cancer Research.

According to the researchers, about 70 percent of patients who develop breast cancer have advanced secondary tumors in the bone. The spread of cancer to the bones leads to cellular processes that exist physically break the bone, leading to further pain and disease.
